The journey to corporate videos started in Hollywood! Ione was an actress working in TV and film. In fact, you may have seen her in any number of projects: Black Widow, Better Call Saul, Walker, and the list goes on!
Meanwhile, I was a screenwriter working in TV. I bounced around to a few TV shows you may have heard of (Will & Grace, The Goldbergs, F Is For Family, 2 Broke Girls) and a whole bunch you haven’t heard of.
Ione also has a huge platform – Uplifting Content – that is focused on mental health awareness. To date, there are over 1.3 million people following the platform across social media. In 2020, she even published a book, Uplifting Stories, with Simon & Schuster.
We were constantly writing, shooting, editing and producing projects both big and small. And in everything we produced, as with everything in entertainment, there was a focus on engaging the audience and telling a great story.
How We Learned to Create Engaging Content
Working in TV and film, we learned early on that the key to captivating an audience is connecting with them emotionally. We were constantly striving to create content that would resonate with viewers on a deeper level, whether that meant making them laugh, cry, or think. It doesn’t always need to be flashy—it needs to serve a purpose. And it’s this philosophy that’s become central to how we approach every project.
How We Learned to Tell a Great Story
When it comes to storytelling, the biggest lesson we’ve learned is that a great story is always about the people. In Hollywood, the most successful TV shows and films have one thing in common: they focus on character. Audiences invest in stories because they invest in the people at the heart of them.
Stories are built around a beginning, middle, and end—there’s a natural flow that guides the viewer through the content. In the end, a great story is one that elicits an emotional response, makes the viewer feel something, and leaves them thinking.
The Corporate Video Production Company Opportunity
With corporate video productions, we both noticed there was something missing. There was a gap we wanted to fill. The corporate videos we saw from small- and medium-sized businesses were either too poorly shot or written, or they were too grand in scope, and therefore, cost a lot of money, and still didn’t tell an engaging story.
We wanted to bring things back to the basics we learned in the entertainment industry:
A simple production
A great story
A fully produced end product
So, building off of the Uplifting Content platform, we started producing corporate videos, but imbuing them with the same high production quality, storytelling, and engagement we brought to our productions within the entertainment industry.
Today, between our retainer clients and our new clients we take on every month, we’ve helped businesses of all sorts bolster their homepages, social media, and marketing platforms with our corporate videos. We're worked with companies in SaaS, financial services, fintech, green energy, and the list goes on and on.
That same pull that got us into the entertainment industry in the first place is exactly what keeps us wanting to elevate and innovate our game. A great corporate video used to be seen as cost prohibitive. We want to show that you can create something engaging and powerful without the high cost. We’re passionate about bringing that to our clients.
The journey to UC Media has not been straightforward. And that’s exactly what’s given us the experience, knowledge, and creativity to craft something amazing.
